Ahhh... Mother's Day. The day mothers of young children get to sleep-in, guilt free. Ed tried his hardest to keep Owen away from our bedroom this morning (successfully for 2 hours - Ed), but Owen is a little sneak and managed to slip in and wake me up. It's hard to be upset when the reason I am even celebrating today, wants me to wake up to play with him.
Owen's school had a nice, little Mother's Day celebration this past week. It was held over lunch time and surprisingly, in a good way, all the mother's showed up.
Each mom had a place setting that included a wrapped gift, a flower pot painted by the kids, and a poem.
Owen's classroom - even though we only see these kids in the morning and afternoon, we've grown pretty attached to them. They are a great group of kids.
The kids put on a short recital and sang a few songs about mothers. It was adorable and you could tell they were very proud of their singing. Owen had been talking about the recital all week and told me when I heard the song that, "I would need a tissue cause I was going to cry." He was right.
Owen's plate he made for me. All the other plates were pretty scribbled on. Owen is clearly more of a minimalist when it comes to his art.
And finally, Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful mothers! We love you very much.

I've read this and looked at the pictures at least twenty times now, and I love it more each time I see it. What a fabulous, wonderful, amazing Mothers Day celebration for you Carrie. The teachers and the children obviously put a LOT of thought and effort into making this a very special event, for you and for them. :0) Look at Owen's smile when he's standing in line to sing. And his plate is so beautiful, so green, so Owen. I hope your actual Mothers Day was fun and special . . . just like you are! I love you, and will see you soon.
